Endy Hupperich

Kaufbeuren, Alemania, 1967

I was born in Kaufbeuren in southern Germany. I came to Mexico in 1992 through two experiences: a tin can comic in my childhood and the experiences that a painter friend made in Mexico. Since 1992 I have returned to Mexico time and again to be influenced in my artistic work.

In 1997 I completed my studies in fine arts at the Munich University of Graphics and Book Art with a bachelor's degree. In 2000 I received a DAAD scholarship to deepen my artistic work in Mexico. Between 2000 and 2004 I studied in Oaxaca. In 2002 and 2004 I was invited by ENPG La Esmeralda to teach painting and drawing courses. In 2003 I organized a group exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca MACO with six German and six Mexican artists. Another time in 2007 I organized an exhibition of ten Munich artists in the Carillo Gil Museum with the curators of Carillo Gil. In 2015 I had an exhibition at the Museum of Oaxacan Painters and in 2018 a group exhibition at the Juan Soriano Museum in Cuernavaca and the Carrillo Gil Museum. From 2006-2013 he was a professor at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences and taught drawing and painting classes. From 2008-2014 he was assistant professor for painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. I have participated in various exhibitions in galleries and museums. I have been living and working in Morelos, Mexico, since 2014. My artistic focus is painting and graphics with the topic of the connection between popular culture and abstraction in the context of everyday life.
